Patty of Elm Street Quilts and I are so pleased to announce our 3rd Hand Pieced Quilt Along! It has been wonderful to watch our lovely hand sewing community grow and grow over the last two years! After two years of skill-building sampler quilts–we’ve designed a different sort of quilt this year.

Introducing Harmony–the Hand Pieced Quilt Along Pattern for 2021!
Harmony works as a single block (28″ x 28″) and is perfect for a wall hanging. I’m using the Thatched fabric line from Moda.
When you put four Harmony blocks together, the result is this gorgeous 56″ x 56″ throw sized quilt. Do you see the curved secondary pattern? Patty used the Dancing in Paris line also from Moda, for this stunning quilt.
The fun starts in February, with weekly blog posts, linkups, and all the information you need to know to fall in love with hand piecing!
Never hand pieced before? No worries. We will be sharing tips, tutorials, and our favorite notions. Experienced hand sewer? This is such a fun pattern to sew! Plus, there will be several opportunities to win prizes from our wonderful sponsors as you share photos of your progress in our link-ups.
The Pattern
The pattern for the QAL is called Harmony because don’t we all need a little more Harmony in our lives after 2020?
The Harmony pattern will be available for purchase on February 8, 2021 for $10. It is a digital (PDF) pattern that includes:
- All the instructions for each unit, block construction, and final quilt top settings for wall hanging and throw quilt
- Templates for all quilt blocks (and rotary cutting instructions where possible)
- Coloring page
It’s perfect for both yardage and is fat quarter friendly.
Color placement is everything in this quilt–so definitely have fun and use the coloring page. This is a great quilt to experiment with a limited color palette, like I did, or even go completely scrappy. The choice is yours! The Harmony block construction is fairly straight forward (no curves!), but still challenging enough to be fun!

The Schedule
The pattern goes on sales on February 8, the QAL kicks off two weeks later on February 22, and it will run through June. We will post a more detailed schedule on February 8, 2021.
Once again, we’ve got wonderful sponsors who will be providing the weekly and grand prizes. In our two weekly link-ups we will be awarding 6 prizes each week (for a total of 12 winners!). And there will be 4 Grand Prizes winners! The prizes are amazing and on every quilter’s wishlist.
