With the holidays around the corner, I’m excited to share that one of my quilt designs is featured in the Winter 2019 issue of Quilts and More magazine!
Snow Day is a simple equilateral triangle quilt, sewn up in Minki Kim’s new Winter Tales fabric line. I love that I can keep this quilt in rotation all throughout winter–as it reads more “winter” than “Christmas”.
It was fun to use all the low volume prints in the line for the oversized hexies–in some ways it would be a great “I spy” quilt! Little rabbits and foxes and penguins, oh my!
I used the Creative Grids 60 degree Triangle ruler, which made it super quick to cut out. In the article, I give a few tips for sewing up this type of quilt, which is full of bias edges.
And as always, it is pieced and quilted with my favorite–Aurifil 2311. The most perfect thread in the world. I’m telling you it’s the little black dress of quilting–it goes with everything!
My friend HollyAnne from String & Story long arm quilted it with the sweetest snowflake designs. It was so fun to not have to worry about the quilting on this one!
Minki was just over for tea this morning and I told her that we need to take a few of our own photos of this quilt so that I can wash it and use it this week! Of course, there is never time for good photos when you are trying to make a deadline, but I can’t wait for it to be all crinkly out of the dryer.
There are so many adorable projects in this issue–a constant source of inspiration during the long days of winter.
