Book Club: A Hand Pieced Quilt Along Pattern

Book Club: A Hand Pieced Quilt Along Pattern

Are you ready to get started? Today we are releasing the pattern for the 2020 Hand Pieced Quilt Along, called Book Club. This year we are making the pattern available as a PDF download for $10.

You can quilt along with us, with lots of tutorials, prizes, and community support–or go ahead and sew at your own pace. It’s your choice.

The Pattern

As I mentioned last week, we named the pattern Book Club because we thought it would be fun to name each block after a beloved fictional character. We will talk about those characters and books in each blog post.

The pattern is a nine-block sampler quilt, with finishing options that include a wall hanging size (37″ x 37″) and throw size (54″ x 54″). Fabric requirements for three versions are shown below. It’s a perfect quilt for that fat quarter bundle you’ve been saving, and it’s also a great scrap buster

When you purchase the pattern, the download will include three PDFs:

  • All the instructions for each block and final quilt top settings
  • Templates for all quilt blocks
  • Coloring page for each quilt top setting
Patty’s gorgeous modern, throw-size version.

Each block pattern features the templates needed and step-by-step instructions for block construction.

Download a copy of the coloring pages and start planning your fabric placement!

If you are curious about how the Quilt Along will work, all the details are in this post. My co-host, Patty of Elm Street Quilts and I will post tips on piecing a block each week.

Next week, on March 9, Patty and I will be sharing how to make and use templates–which is one of the skills we are tackling in this Quilt Along. We will also share tips on curved piecing and partial seams along the way–so we are going to take your hand piecing skills to the next level! With tutorials and community support–you’ve totally got this!

We are excited to get started, so grab a copy of the pattern and start plotting your fabric choices!

If you have any trouble ordering the pattern, please don’t hesitate to email us at handpiecedqal@gmail.com– we’ll be happy to help!
