Hand Pieced QAL: Sashing and Quilt Top Assembly

Hand Pieced QAL: Sashing and Quilt Top Assembly

It’s week 10 in the Hand Pieced Quilt Along–are you ready to put together your quilt top? The full tutorial for two different settings are over on Patty’s blog, Elm Street Quilts. I can’t believe how fast this QAL has gone! It has been so fun to sew along with you as we made our way through this quilt.

I choose the traditional setting. It just seemed appropriate for the fabrics in this quilt.

The sashing and borders are some of the most fun/easiest sewing of this quilt! Since I like to sew with the most “complicated” side of a block facing me, I don’t even mark seam allowances on the border and sashing strips. I just pin them to the block and sew on the stitching line that is already marked on the back of the block. Just long, straight seams–hand sewing bliss!

I’m so looking forward to seeing your complete quilt tops!
