It’s week 8 on the Hand Pieced Quilt Along, and today we are hand piecing the Bess Block. Bess is a no nonsense widow in the novel Friendship Album 1933, and a character that I relate to the most (because she has teenage children, not that I’m a widow). The instructions for this week’s block are over at Patty’s blog, Elm Street Quilts. So, pop on over there for the tutorial, where she shows you a new technique!
I enjoyed stitching up this block with a simple color scheme. I did it a little differently than Patty. In fact, I hand pieced my block in the same way that I did the Eula block–just with different color placement. (In fact, I did not even realize that we had two such similar blocks until after we had completed the quilt!) They can look quite different depending on color placement.
Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop and Famore for sponsoring the block tutorials!
