It’s week 6 on the Hand Pieced Quilt Along, and today we are hand piecing the Florence Block. Florence is the wonderfully inspirational entrepreneur in the novel Friendship Album 1933. The instructions for this week’s block are over at Patty’s blog, Elm Street Quilts.
Hand piecing this block was a lot of fun. I’m a sucker for a pinwheel, so I loved the contrasting center in the block. I made sure to pin well at each of those tricky seam intersections–like where the tip of the flying geese unit hits the intersections on the pinwheels. You’ve got all the skills you need–just mark, pin, and sew!
Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop and Famore for sponsoring the block tutorials!
