  • Have you seen The House without a Christmas Tree ? Cast includes Jason Robard set in 1946 Nebraska? It aired in 1972 in the Hallmark Series. I watch it every year but my family is not as enthused about it. I usually have to search it on YouTube after I lost the DVD. Your grandparents will love it.

  • Merry Christmas Kristen! I recently downloaded the 10% Happier Podcast by Dan Harris, in case you wanted to check that out. You spoke about two of my favorite subjects other than crafting, hair, and skin care. I have thicker, naturally curly hair. Many times I straighten it in the winter, but for the spring, summer, and fall months, until it’s too cold in PA I leave it curly most of the time. I’m not sure if this would apply to you, but I think I finally cracked the case on managing shorter curly hair. I use a leave-in conditioner either Shea Moister spray Manuka Honey & yogurt Hydrate+repair multi-action leave-in, or Ekos Hair leave-in conditioner. Then I follow up with a small amount of living-proof nourishing styling cream for no frizz. To curl the hair I use Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie, then sometimes I will follow up with Shea Moisture Coconut & hibiscus frizz-free curl mousse. All the Shea Moisture is found at Target, and the Living Proof is either online or at Ulta. This grouping has taken me years to perfect and finally stopped fighting with my curly, wavy coarse hair. I think the key to ease of style is to just go with it….it looks better to others than you think. I also stopped with the defined bangs, and more of a longer layer look. Thank COVID for accepting my hair change. Also, a good hairdresser, although may be a bit pricer is 100% worthwhile. I spent 20+ years with my former one, then she became a respiratory therapist, and a very part-time hairdresser out of her brother’s basement with no customer restroom…When her schedule changed to 100% evenings, I could not do this anymore. But I didn’t realize how much she wasn’t keeping up with things, and really how bad of shape my hair was. Now one year forward, and maybe double the price, but I am so much happier with a true hair professional.

My profession is accounting, but I used to sell while working at a major Corporation for 12 years Mary Kay for 10 years, then later on when I stayed home with my son I tried Avon. Both are great products, but I became a fan of as many cruelty-free products as possible.. So I am obsessed with looking for the leaping bunny or bunny ears or whatever can put me at ease about cruelty-free. A few years ago I went to Sephora and asked the salesperson, who had been there for many years, what can I use that is plant-based and mainly cruelty-free. She turned me on to Biossance…yes Reese Witherspoon is telling the truth, the stuff is amazing. I love the eye cream, Vitamin C Serum, Night nighttime Lactic Acid. So the trick is you can’t use both of these products at the same time, and you should use them at night. You need to use Squaline Rose OIL- or some type of oil with both after application, then any moisturizer (I use Andalou Naturals- great price). So I switch on and off between Squaline lactic acid & Squaline &Vitamin C. . So here’s the BEST ADVICE I have that you will want to know if you don’t already. BEST PLACE TO BUY ALL THESE PRODUCTS IS EBAY, except for Andalou which is very reasonable on Amazon. My Aunt told me this information a couple of years ago, took me a year to process it, but now that’s the place I go to first for the very best prices on all of these products.

Sorry if this is TMI, but I just love to share what I have learned through the years about products, and I am an empty nester too now, with my only son in Idaho working for Idaho Fish & Game, and with me living in Pennsylvania.

I’m a fan of your Podcast, you have a great tone and message, and look forward to hearing about your projects, adventures, books & movies in the new year!
