In this episode I chat about vacation stitching (or not!), finding my quilting and knitting mojo, summer show recommendations, and decluttering encouragement. (I also use the word mojo a million times. Sorry.)

The #goodaspieplacemat was a hit earlier this month, so I’m releasing the pattern on August 1! ?????? in the meanwhile, I wanted to tell you a bit more about how I finished this lil’ gem. Normally, I’m a @aurifilthread 50wt and free motion quilting all the way kind of girl, but this needed to be done in a jiffy, so I used 12 at instead for some simple straight lines and to top stitch the binding. Omg, I love it! And if you lengthened your stitches a bit you could toooootally get a sweet handquilted look. It’s an easy way to take super simple quilting and add a little extra texture. ? I used @hobbsbatting fusible batting and my @jukihomesewing J150QVP, and just flew thru the basting and quilting process with nary a wrinkle or missed stitch ? If you’re new to 12 wt, be sure to use 40 wt or forty-three (my fave) in the bobbin, adjust the top tension, and use a bigger needle (I like a 16/100, top stitch if you have it handy). ? So, are you ready to give 12 wt a whirl? If you already love it, what’s your favorite way to use it?
