quilty finishes

I started 2015 off with a quick finish over Christmas break. Camille Roskelley over at Thimble Blossoms was having a pattern sale, and I had been wanting to make the Spools mini for quite a while. I had just uncovered my Ruby scraps from my Swoon quilt and they seemed just the thing to whip up a quick mini.

It was a quick and fun pattern, but I do think there was an error in the cutting instructions for the spool ends. But I figured it out and finished it up with some scrappy binding. I also bought a mini Dwell pattern and I’m looking forward to making that as well.

Over the holiday I did a bit of a fabric rearrange and unearthed a few forgotten fabric gems. The Ruby scraps were one of them, and another was some fabric that I had won on a blog giveaway from Birch Fabrics. I did a bit of pondering, and decided that I could not cut into the large scale print too much, so a new table runner was in order.

I just did a simple patchwork border with some added linen. You can’t see it, but it is reversible, with a slightly different patchwork border on the back. I haven’t completed a full quilt in such a long time, but these two mini projects were a good way to get my sewing mojo back.
