summer fun: mini crossbow

My boys are 11 and 14, and it is sometimes a bit hard to get them off of their iPods and tablets. But there are limits in place, and they have dug into some fun projects already this summer. The first one was this mini crossbow that basically just required hairclips, popsicle sticks, embroidery floss, and a hot glue gun.IMG_2157IMG_2164IMG_2155IMG_2163IMG_2167IMG_2169It shoots toothpicks and I find that mildly concerning.

  • That is a great idea. Would you mind to tell me where you can find the explanations? Thanks in advance.

  • Summer Entertainment ideas, a homemade crossbow.
Summer is a time when many children are out of school, and looking for many ways to entertain themselves. Creating a homemade crossbow is one of the ways that they can be productive with, have a lot of enjoyment, and a good exercise on their physics knowledge. Mini-crossbows can be as small as the size of a palm, and equipment can be found all over the home. All that is really needed are toothpicks for arrows, some small pieces of wood, like popsicle sticks, a flexible tie – like a hair tie or rubberband, and a strong glue to put it all together. This simple gadget can be used almost immediately, but some warning should be made that safety must be practiced at all costs, and that includes not targeting people at all as these mini-crossbows can also cause a hazard.
